Steven T. Katz is the Slater Professor in Jewish and Holocaust Studies at Boston University. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge. He serves on the academic committee of the US Holocaust Memorial Museum, and is a member of the United States delegation to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA). From 2011-2017 he served as the academic advisor for IHRA, during which time he was involved in negotiations with many governments regarding Holocaust education. He writes on the Holocaust, Jewish history, Jewish philosophy, and comparative mysticism and edits the award-winning journal Modern Judaism. He has lectured around the world and published numerous prize-winning books and articles. His most recent works, published in 2019, are a 2-volume comparison between the Holocaust and black slavery (The Holocaust and New World Slavery) and a book of Holocaust essays (Holocaust Studies: Critical Reflections).
